Electronics sector in India presents unique opportunities and challenges. It has been growing rapidly over the last couple of years and is expected to reach US$ 400 billion by 2020. Among several challenges, shortage of skilled manpower has been identified as one of the most critical constraints that the sector is confronting with. Electronics Industry in India presents unique opportunities and challenges. The electronic industry in India has grown from the production of Rs.328 billion to Rs.947 billion in the year 2009 at a CAGR of 16.4%. The Indian ESDM sector has 8 verticals, namely Consumer Electronics, IT Hardware, Telecommunications Equipment, Electronics Components, Strategic Electronics, Automotive, Medical & Healthcare and Industrial Electronics. Consumer Electronics & Telecom Equipment are the largest segments with about 27% share in total production. As the sector presents a large opportunity with increasing thrust on higher value addition in manufacturing and product development, the employment in the ESDM industry is estimated to grow phenomenally. It is estimated that the sector employed about 0.9 million in the year 2008 which is estimated to increase to over 4 million by 2022. This would translate to an incremental human resource requirement of about 3.2 million. While there is a huge need and demand for skilled workforce, there are neither national occupational standards nor any mechanism to streamline and standardize education / skill development for Electronics Profession in the country. As a result, there is an inconsistency in the competency level, affecting efficiency, productivity and delivery of goods & services.
Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) is a Not?for?Profit Organization, registered under the Indian Companies Act, 1956.The Council has been promoted by Five Associations i.e. CEAMA, ELCINA, IESA (formerly ISA) , IPCA & MAIT, with financial support by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). Our focus is on establishing an effective and efficient ecosystem for development and imparting of outcome oriented skills for the electronics systems, design and manufacturing industry (ESDM) including relevant curriculum, courses, information database, delivery system, standardization, accreditation and certification processes to enhance the employability of the Indian workforce globally.

Objective

  • To establish a structured mechanism wherein ESSCI will facilitate & collaborate with NSDC in strengthening the existing vocational education system for skills development in electronics sector & upgrade vocational training system for the industry to achieve global standards in manpower productivity.

Scope

  • Electronics Sector Skills Council of India envisions to enable a world class electronics manufacturing industry with an ecosystem for skill development and enhance employability of the large number of Indian human resource.

Assembly Operator - Capacitor

Eligibility Min -12th standard passed Max- ITI/Diploma (Electrical/Electronics)
Description The individual at work is responsible for various processes such as winding, flattening, protective taping, metal spraying, welding, resin filling and baking at various stages of capacitor manufacture.
