PSSC has been promoted by Ministry of Power through Central Electrical Authority (CEA) alongwith Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers' Association (IEEMA). The Governing Body of PSSC is chaired by Chairperson, CEA as President and has representation from across the Power Sector covering Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Renewable Energy and Equipment Manufacturing. This is a completely industry and employer driven initiative designed to help them with improved availability of readily employable and skilled workforce through a robust process of development of National Occupational Standards (NOS), skill based training and finally its assessment and certification

Cable Jointer Electrical Power System

Eligibility 8th pass Exp 6 months as a welder
Description Cable jointer works on joints of low voltage (LV) and high voltage cables (11kV) with the circuits dead and earthed locally at both ends of cables. He also needs to locate cable faults.

Consumer Energy Meter Technician

Eligibility 8th 1 year as technical helper/apprenticeship
Description An individual assigned with the role of an consumer energy meter technician performs basic installation, read and understand single phase and three phase meter in line with energy providers’ standards and policies. This position requires minimum work supervision as the job duties are mostly performed at the work site. The job responsibilities may also include attending to customers’ breakdown complaints and requests, repairing and servicing of faulty equipment, checking wiring system, etc.

Distribution Lineman

Eligibility 8th 2 years as technical helper/apprenticeship
Description The incumbent in the job will replace and maintain steel, wood, laminate and concrete poles, structures and other related hardware. They install, maintain and repair overhead and underground powerlines and cables, and other associated equipment such as insulators, conductors, lightning arrestors, switches, metering systems, transformers and lighting systems. They attend to customer breakdown complaints and requests, releasing and restoring connections. They also attend to street lighting maintenance.

Description The incumbent in the job will carry out equipment upkeep, material and equipment transportation activities to support erection and maintenance of overhead and underground power lines and cables, transformers, etc. They will help in fixing nuts and bolts and other mechanical support to the lineman as well.

Operator Ash Handling - Thermal Power Generation

Eligibility ITI (Electrical/Mechanical) 18 years
Description The incumbent in the job will comply with and practice proper equipment clearance procedures, operates ash handling plant and maintain, carry out inspection of equipment and ensure proactive maintenance. Perform all work in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and environment regulations. Perform all work and operate all equipment within the guidelines of the safety policy. Maintain required ash handling documentation including records and log sheets.

Description It involves marking out the pipes as per specifications, and then use hand tools, portable power tools, manually operated machine tools and shaping, fabricating, fitting and assembly techniques appropriate to the operations being performed. The candidate will be expected to check the quality of the workpiece, using measuring equipment

Power Plant High Pressure Welder

Eligibility 12th 1 year as MMAW, TIG or MIG welder
Description The welder will use different welding methods like Tungsten Inert gas welding, Manual metal arc welding, submerged arc welding, stud welding as well as Oxy-fuel gas cutting in all positions; apply welding principles to plan the weld; mark out the material; prepare and perform the weld that can clear various tests such as visual examination, tension tests, guided-bend tests, notch-toughness tests, studweld tests, micro tests radiographic or ultrasonic examination, liquid penetrant.

Description The incumbent works on power plant machinery and mechanical equipment and components. This equipment may include turbines and internal combustion engines, power transmission assemblies, basic pneumatic systems, basic hydraulic systems, pumps, compressors,fans, fuel handling system, lubrication, cooling and exhaust systems, etc. Some components worked on include bearings, valves, drives.
