Indian Textiles Industry has an overwhelming presence in the economic life of the country. Apart from providing one of the basic necessities of life, the textile industry also plays a pivotal role through its contribution to industrial output, employment generation and export earnings of the country. It contributes about 14% to India’s industrial production and 13% to the country’s export earnings. The textile sector is one of the largest provider of employment alongwith agriculture. The Indian textiles industry represents a widely diverse spectrum of activities with the hand-spun and handwoven sector at one end, and the capital intensive sophisticated mill sector at the other. The decentralized power looms, hosiery and knitting sectors form the largest section of the Textiles Industry. The close linkage of the Industry to agriculture and the ancient culture, and traditions of the country make the Indian textiles sector unique in comparison to the textiles industry of other countries. This also provides the industry with the capacity to produce a variety of products suitable to the different market segments, both within and outside the country.
Textile Sector Skill Council (in short TSC) is a non-profit making organisation having license under Section 8 (1) of the Companies Act, 2013 registered under Companies Act 2013. Textile Sector Skill Council has been approved by National Skill Development Corporation, set up by Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India. TSC will develop a skilled work force for the textile industry through setting curriculum for training and accreditation of trade competency. TSC is to facilitate scalable “skill training” to the complete work force engaged in the manufacture of textile and hand-loom products.National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC approved Textile Sector Skill Council (TSC) for development of skill in spinning, weaving, processing and hand-loom sectors of the textile industry.Setting of Textile Sector Skill council has also been endorsed by Ministry of Textiles, Government of India vide approval letter dated 6th September 2013.The TSC is an organization represented by Industry, government and academia to develop innovative skill solutions and to investment in skills and job creation. The key objective of TSC is to define the skill requirement of the industry and to create a deployable talent pool of workforce for the textile industry.The TSC is incubated by textile industry associations and training providers including textile research associations and office of the Development Commissioner of Hand-looms. A governing council of this group will oversee the running of the TSC with its CEO and a team of professionals, who will collect, compile and manage Labour Market Information System (LMIS), build competency framework, evaluation methods and curriculum development in consultation with industry and academia.

Description An autoconer tenter is responsible to carry out tenting activities in an autoconer machine. An autoconer tenter should be able to segregate quality cops, creel the cops, ensure proper splicing carry out routine cleaning and maintenance activities, thus producing defect free cone package and ensure proper functioning of autoconer machine.This job requires the individual to have thorough knowledge of process flow and material flow in a spinning mill for yarn production and should know about the important functions and operations of autoconer machine.

Description A blowroom operator is responsible to carry out activities in the sequence of machines in blowroom department. A blowroom operator should be able to operate the sequence of machines in blowroom department, carry out routine cleaning and preventive maintenance activities, ascertaining proper functioning of all machines thus ensuring the opened and cleaned fibre gets transported to the carding department via chute/lap feed system.
